Content:Bela Bartok (1881-1945) was a Hungarian composer, folk musician and pianist. His major contribution to the musical art was his perfect integration of lively folk music and novel contemporary skills with solemn classical music. Piano works, one of the important forms of Bartok's musical creation, was characterized by complicated contents and distinct features. Researching Bartok's piano works and relevant literature is the optimal alternative to study and master novel musical ideas and skills of the 20th century.Bartok's piano suite Out of Doors, written in 1926, was a masterpiece as he approached maturity in his style, which was composed of five pieces:the first piece With Drums and Pipes, the second piece Barcarolla, the third piece Musettes, the forth piece The Night's Music, and the fifth piece The Chase.This paper discusses the topic in the following ways:Firstly, Bartok's musical development and creation and his creative ideas, origins and characteristics; Secondly, studies on the composing skills of Bartok's piano suite Out of Doors, particularly focusing on the mode, semitone, system, chord, interval, rhythm and beat; Thirdly, the practical analysis of composing skills of the suite, the musical analysis of With Drums and Pipes, Barcarolla, Musettes, The Night's Music and The Chase.In his 64-year lifetime, Bartok went through the two World Wars and experienced all the bitterness and hardships of vagrant life but he had the noble personality----persistent, courageous and keeping moving forward. He expressed his ideals, his world and his love in the musical language that belonged to the general people. As a musical genius, he had the deepest perceptions of the connotations of music in the new age and created a series of pure, simple and concise musical works with precise composing skills, which became a role model for the future generations.
