The 1950s, The Late Immigrant Jiangxi Reclamation Work Study

In the late fifties, to solve the bloated population phenomenon, the CPC Shanghai municipal committee proposed the austerity policy. According to the requirements, Shanghai started to organize provincial immigration of reclamation. Among them, the immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi, which started early, with large scale, was more successful, and had certain representativeness.The immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi started on October 1955, basically ended in 1959. The work can be divided into three stages: the pilot phase, the large-scale organizational phase and the follow-up phase. The work not only solved a part of the labor force employment in Shanghai, but also addressed the difficulties of labor shortages in some areas of Jiangxi province. The work not only opened wastelands to increase grains for countries, but also made preliminary experience of immigration from urban area to rural area.Besides the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the background and discusses the feasibility of the immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi. The second chapter combs the basic situation of the immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi, such as the organization and fund, the mobilization and transmission, the acceptation and resettlement. The third chapter summarizes the development process of the immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi, which consists of three stages: the pilot phase, the large-scale organizational phase and the follow-up phase.At present, the academic research of the immigration of reclamation from Shanghai to Jiangxi in the late fifties is relatively weak. Therefore, this paper hopes to collect relevant historical data, objectively analyze and evaluate the work, which would enhance peoples understanding, and provide some enlightenment to the present immigration work.
