Jiangxi Industrial Movement And Its Result In Late Qing Dynasty

In late Qing dynasty, faced with increasingly severe troubles at home and aggression from abroad, the Qing government launched a reform campaign labeled as"New Deal"between1901 and 1911 in pursuit of industry rejuvenation so as to make the nation powerful and people rich. Thereupon, the local government of all aspects, under the advocating and support of the central government, began with great enthusiasm the self-help movement of revitalization of the homeland. As an independent political and economic area, jiangxi actively performed the policy of industry invigoration made by Qing government, and meanwhile, with much consideration into its own historical situation, formulated a series of policies and measures for the sake of the industry revitalization, say, policies on agriculture, industry, business, mineral deposits and so on, ushered at the same time a new era of modern industry characteristic of "industry revitalizing Jiangxi, "and"industry saving the country". Furthermore, the joint efforts made by the government, the rich and the people witnessed the emergence and development of industry in the field of all kinds, thus embracing the advent of economic transformation in Jiangxi. Unfortunately, however, this campaign came to a stop with the collapse of Qing dynasty, and the cause of modern industry in Jiangxi thus confronted new tests and challenges.
