Paolong Festival is the greatest noble traditional celebration activity of Bin Yang local people; the festival observes the grand opening during the ninth day to eleventh of the first lunar month yearly in the Bin Yang county town. It's made up of three main parts:"The Float Parade","Lamp Wine Banquet"and"Paolong Dance". It has many folklore processions and performances, such as"The Colored Long Dance","The Float Parade","Lamp Wine Banquet","Paolong's opening ceremony","Paolong Dance and so on.For the long history and no conclusive of the related records, there are no detailed records about the source of the Paolong Festival, so the local people held various opinions. The first opinion says"three brothers of the Lu's moved from Du an Shui hua Gateway, Shixing County, Naxiong City, Guangdong Province to Binyang County to make a living in Qing dynasty, they took the folklore of Paolong Dacing on the eleventh day in the first lunar month from their hometown to Binyang county."The second opinion says"Paolong Dacing is for combating the spread of plagues."The third opinion says"the Paolong Dancing is in memory of the victory of Di Qing`s defeat of Nong Zhigao in Kunlun Pass in Song dynasty."In this thesis, the third opinion is supported.For the Paolong Festival has a longhistory and profound culture, the Paolong culture is comprehensive culture which contains Long Culture, Confucius ancestral Culture, Spring Festival customs culture, celebration cultural, popular religion culture, immigrant culture, commercial port culture and other cultures.The Paolong Festival has been become one of the national intangible cultural heritage protection members. This ancient, auspicious festive feasts also has strong local folk characteristics, who's unique charm attracting more and more attention and participation. It makes itself own great heritage and exploitation value, for the reason these two strong impacts of visual and participate, a long history, profound cultural connotation, unique charm and rich social function.The development of Paolong cultural industry is targeting on the development of tourism on Paolong folklore, which is of great importance to the development of Binyang County. for not only protecting the special culture and promoting community culture and regional development of the economy, but also improving the development of folk cultural tourism and its competitiveness and promoting the new rural construction to build a harmonious society.
