Using three different methods of oral testing of Chinese as a second language, this paper makes an inquiry into objective scoring procedures for oral testing. The procedures we explore include right-or-wrong scoring and the so-called 揳nalytic objective scoring?which is based upon our operational definition of oral proficiency. Through experimental study, we find the reliability and validity of right-or-wrong scoring are both fairly good, but the construct validity of 揳nalytic objective scoring?is not so satisfying though its reliability and concurrent validity are high. |
