Li Shang-yin is a famous poet in late Tang dynasty of China. His poems have a special personal charming because of his own life experience. Many critics always classify his poems into the type with a literary style labeled as 揷loudy and obscure? 揳pt to use literary quotation? Critics pay more attention to kindness and enmity of Li with Linghu family, but ignore the study of Li抯 real, poor life and his own fabbiness. Therefore, critics always assume that Li抯 tragic life was brought out by Linghu family, and also, literature critics study Li抯 poems according to the stories of Li and Linghu family. However ,my dissertation want to make clear two questions : first, Li抯 tragic life was irrelevant to his marriage ;second, as a role of poor, flabby, unhealthy intellectual, Li was doomed to a tragic life in Tang.
