Shang Administrative Divisions,

Shang Dynasty is the second slavery country in Chinese history. From the foundation of the country by the King Shang Tang to the resurgence by the King Wu Ding,the Shang Dynasty has been gradually developed and become a vast country with the territory of millions sq. km. ,which is in the lead in the fields of politics ,economy and culture among the countries in the world at that time. Concerning its political system,lots of governing policies were established by the Ruling Class in order to firm its domestic regime and ex- pand its territory. Among the governing policies, one of the important methods at that time is to regionalize its territory. There is a further research in the paper about the re- gionalization of Shang Dynasty , in accordance with the oracle inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells of the Shang Dynasty ,ancient literature and data of archeology ,of which the main contents are as following: For probing into the regionalization of Shang Dynasty, firstly we should solve the question about capital and the area of the King抯 direct梘overnment . Through the research,we found that the names of Zi Yi,Da Yishang,Tian Yishang,Shang Yi is Anyang Yinxu ,the capital of Shang Dynasty in its later stage; the names of Zhong Shang and Shang(the first name call)is the regions of the area of the King抯 direct? government , which are the areas of Middle North Henan Province, South Hebei Prorince ,South Shanxi Province and part of Southwest Shandong Province. It . The Ruling Class of Shang Dynasty regionalized the area directly under their jurisdic- tion. Yi Sang are the ruling center of the area of the King抯 direct梘overnment,the outer region is Dan,and the outer than Dan is surburbia which was called Bi and Dian in Bu Ci. The frontier of Bi or Dian is Ge ; Yi is the basalest regionalization between Bi(Dian)and Ge. I . There are different opinions in the history that Si Tu and Si Fang of Shang Dynasty is the area directly under the jurisdiction of Shang or not. I think that the reason why Si Tu and Si Fang can not be directly under the jurisdictoin of Shang ,was that the Vassal Fang Kingdom and Feng Kingdom ,which were the enfeoffments ,sometimes submitted to Shang Dynasty ,but sometimes betraied Shang Dynasty. IV . Up to now ,there is few researches concerning the regionalization of the vassal king- doms of Shang Dynasty. After research ,it was found that the regionalization of the vassal kingdoms of Shang Dynasty is basically consistent with the regionalization of Shang Dynasty ,which included- Bi (Dian) ,Ge and Yi. This was the special point of the regionalization of Shang Dynasty and it reflected the despotism and the central- ization of state power of Shang Dynasty.
