German Tradition Of Moral Thought Modern Transformation And Revelation

Moral construction is an important part of Chinese modernization drive , and it impacts whether other undertakings can undergo smoothly or not. To carry out moral construction correctly, we should not only seek the laws from the history of Chinese moral development, but also make use of the experience and lessons of other countries for reference. This article inquires into the course ways~ and characteristics of the modern transformation of German traditional morals and analyses its enlightenment to Chinese moral construction.The first part of this article expounds the essential course and content of German traditional morals?modem transformation. The transformation mainly refers to German morals changing from the feudal Christian morals that dominated the Middle Ages to modem capitalistic morals ,which took place along with the rising and development of German bourgeoisie. It can be roughly divided into three stages :the breakthrough from the traditional morals ,the establishment of modern morals and its trends. The article has respectively discussed these different stages in general way.The second part of this article summarizes the ways and characteristics of the modern transformation. The transformation was accomplished mainly by means of carrying out a series of movements in the fields of thoughts and culture performing bourgeois reforms as well as the school education. Without these ways, the transformation could not be realized easily. The characteristics are as follows: One is that the theological morals has changed into humanistic ones. The other is that the transformation is protracted~complicated and tortuous, so we should evaluate it objectively.The third part of this article analyses the inspiration we should learn from the transformation, which is the starting point and significance why we study this subject. First, we should adapt to the demands of the social development and form the relevant moral ideas. At present we should establish the moral concepts which are appropriate to the socialist market economy; Secondly ,we should correctly understand the relationship between moral progress and economic development ,and try to unify them; Thirdly, we should understand moral education correctly, attach importance to it and adjust its content timely; Finally, we should recognize the complexity of moral situation and the arduousness of its construction ,then carry on the moral construction down to earth to ensure other undertakings of China to proceed smoothly.
