From 1927 to 1949, Chinese new poetry walked into the season of harvesting step by step through all kinds of argumentation in the beginning with the development of the whole modem literature of China. It made its great progress based on the achievements of the past ten years: not only many outstanding poets and poems but also much excellent poetics come into being. Most of the important and widely spreaded poetics during this period were researched in this thesis. In the end of 1920s and in the beginning of 1930s, left literature was more and more developed. This gave an opportunity to proletarian poetics to develop. The political consciousness about class was brought into the poetics so that some poets and poems walked towards revolution and the masses in order to revolutionize and instruct them. The Gathering of Chinese Poetry led by Pu Feng had concentrated in creating the theory. However, the poets who often published their poems on the magazine named MODERN all stood on the contrary. They considered that paying attention to the utilitarian too much would hurt the beauty and value of the poetry art. They went in for making Chinese and foreign poetics introjected. Furthermore they tried their best to realize the new idea in their writing. In fact, they developed the modernistic theory of poetry. The theory of Dai Wangshu and Liang Zongdai was the best. Some other poets attached importance to reflect real life in good forms based on their own experience such as Ai Qing, Zang Kejia and Zhu Ziqing. They developed the realistic poetics. In 1937, the War of Resistance Against Japan broke out. Almost every poet focused on the social reality full of blood and fire. Those poets around JULY magazine and in Liberated Areas happened to coincide in how to make the poems popular. In Liberated Areas, the poets organized several forums to raise the popular movement. But the JULY Faction led by Hu Feng tried to combine the social reality, revolution spirit and the art essence based on so called Subject Spirit. It seemed very different from other revolutionary poetics. In the eve of the whole liberation, a group of poets who usually published their poems on the magazine named Chinese New Poetry looked for the way of Chinese poems?modernization. They had the same ideal梩o get balance between art and ~zality, individual life and society life, Chinese poetics and western poetics. Yuan Kejia dissertated the ways of how to make new poems modern and theatrical. I-us idea was very new. Tang Shi researched the style and image in the ideas of both Chinese ancient poetics and foreign modernistic poetics. All in all, Chinese new poetics have formed it抯 own characteristic and walked on it抯 own way during this period. In this thesis, the development of Chinese new poetics has been cleared up and sorts of ideas also have been gathered up according to the change of time as possible. Further, this thesis tries to judge their positions on the history of new poetics and their value to poem writing just properly.
