Belief is a kind of social spirit phenomenon which people confirmedly believe, pursue, revere and grasp the realm of oneness of universe and mankind, and it deals with kinds of ultimate problems. The characteristic of ultimate transcendence makes people have a great need for ultimate solicitude. It is only belief that can provide people with ultimate solicitude. Moreover, humanity developing until now, the characteristic has been one of natural attributes for people. So, people need belief and must possess belief. There are various beliefs in reality. When we choose belief at present, we should abide by scientific principle, humanism principle and characteristic principle of Chinese practical situation. According to these principles, communist belief is our best choice. Investigation demonstrates, however, there exists belief crisis now in our country. Its existence is really dangerous, though it is a kind of inevitable phenomenon during society transition, and though its positive effect is greater than negative effect. So the varied reasons that bring about the crisis are explored, then some advice is given that we must construct communist belief scientifically.
