Contemporary Philosophical Reflection Of The Belief

Belief is human being's firm conviction and persistent pursuit towards a certain object which reflects the utmost value recognized by themselves. It is also the inquiry about people's innate characters; projection of their spiritual value and pursuit of their ideal. It is the stable, everlasting and exclusive mental activity for achieving the goal. What's more, belief is the core and soul of human's spiritual world; the basic and most deepgoing phenomenon of spiritual world as well. It offers the integrated ideal direction and gives the utmost care to human beings. Also, it helps make life more productive and meaningful. Belief has a profound influence on human beings.In China nowadays, belief is put in contradiction and conflict. It is at a loss. This is manifested by the dumping of belief, the pluralism, irrationality and utilitarianism, superstition and blindness of belief as well. Through the holistic review towards both the scientific and non-scientific belief and evaluation of various influential beliefs, this paper analyzes the existing condition about China's problem of belief and explores the root for Chinese people's belief orientation. The driven force of the reflection is to dispel the mist and retrieve the scientific and lofty value of belief from the benign interaction between truth and value, and the unity of self-value and social value. Besides, this paper also aims to cultivate scientific belief and make our boat of belief steer a steady course.
