Psycholinguistics is a new frontier discipline and, aiming at a better understanding of the behavior and psychological process of human beings in their mastery and use of language, is thus the joint quintessence of linguistics and psychology. It is an important means for the studies of individual experiences in language acquisition, and with what is drawn from the two disciplines, it helps enlighten the essential aspects and universal laws of human beings in their learning or acquisition of language. The present thesis focuses, from the perspective of psycholinguistics, on the introduction of two fundamental tenets of language acquisition and language learning. In addition, it tries to expose, starting with issues on the use of language and on the relation between language and thought, the instructive function of psycholinguistics on language teaching: Based on the acquisition and learning theory, on an insight into the nature of language, as is perceived in the theories of N. Chomsky and 1. Piaget, and on the 揗onitor Model?proposed by S. Krashen, the erroneous understandings and conductions in traditional teaching efforts are pointed out and new teaching models are proposed. Lastly, the thesis, on the foundation of Vygotsky抯 ponderings on the relationship between language and thinking, points out the essential functions of thinking on language capacity and in turn on the perfection of teaching methodology.
