Painting language is a special way for painter to express his idea and emotion. How a painter control the painting language is an important standard to evaluate his actual art sense, which is also a neve-stop topic discussed in painting field. As a special form of painting language, using painting brush together with mould and color are expression of feeling as well as carrying body of spirit. It proves to hold independent aesthetic value. But people didn't attach much importance to the use of painting brush for a long time. There still are a lot of misunderstandings upon using of brush. So I'll pint out several aspects as follow: First of all, Interpret the conception of using painting brush, explain the lines, brush touch, brush trace texture and the material from of using brush, conclude that the virtual spirit sits in brush atmosphere brush appeal brush delight and so on; The second part elaborate the characters using painting brush as a diverse way to express painting language; The third part introduces the history development of using brush that including shelter period, transition period and manifestation period. Paints out the faults of carelessness of using painting brush and proceed the overall research of it; The fourth part compares using brush of Chinese painters with foreign painters. By analysing the different art idea and materials between the two, I forecast the boarder development of using of brush on the basis of widely spread of art idea and improvement of material function. The comparision will speed up the exchange of Chinese painters and foreign ones; The fifth part explains the independent aesthetic value of using painting brush in modern painting. By studding specific art phenomena and case, I disclose the independent aesthetic value of using brush as expression of feeling andcarrying body of spirit in western painting I also give a review about Chinese using of brush and provide a full demonstration upon remaining questions. Through which, I conclude that it is of great importance to lay great stress on using of brush.
