Adverbs Of. "huainanzi" Study

The study of the history of Chinese must be based on the detai led and rel iable grammatical research of a special book. As an important book of the primary Han Dynasty, huainanzi is an important source text for research on the history of Chinese. But in a long historical process, the research on the core elements, such as the function words is still very fragmentary. So my thesis chooses the huainanzi as my studying object, making an investigation into the adverbs in it in four chapters.Chapter One: Liu An and huainanziThe brief introduction of Liu An and the written time, the research value of the huai nan zi.Chapter Two: About adverb. The standard of judging adverb.About the definition of adverb, I adopt Mr Zhu De Xi's view: The function words only act as adverbial modifier. According to this, I judge and classify the adverbs in the huainanzi and divide them into eight sorts: scope adverb, degree adverb, time adverb, frequency adverb, negative adverb, manner adverb, mood adverb, modest adverb.Chapter Three: The adverbs in the huai nan zi.This is the principal part of the thesis . In this part, I introduce the adverbs in the huainanzi according to the sorts.There are 122 adverbs in the huainanzi. In order to depict the every sort of the adverbs in the huainanzi, I adopt the following steps:First, give the definition about every sort of adverb and reassign them into some smaller types from semantic angle. For example, scope adverbs are reassigned into two smaller types, the first indicates total, the other indicates limit.Second, depict the adverbs one by one. During the course of the depiction, I not only explain the usage with many examples, but also compare and analysis the adverbs those are similar in usage. For example, by comparing their semantic directions, I distinguish the three words "jie, jin, xi"; by the statistic data, I explain and testify the difference between two negative adverbs " bu, fu". I think the difference lies in two aspects: one is the ability of the wordbuilding , the other is whether they withhold the objects when they constitute with the verb.At Last, I append a form in the end of the analysis, which reflects the detailed usage about this sort of adverbs. So as to reach the goal that have a system and quantitative knowledge with regard to the adverbs in the huainan zi.Chapter Four: ConclusionIn this part, I sum up the character of the adverbs in the huainan zi from four aspects: the proportion of the monosyllabic adverbs and the polysyllabic adverbs; adverb using together; adverb holding several posts simultaneously; the position where the adverbs locate in the sentence.
