Comparison Of Lu Xun And Mao Dun Realistic Novel

As the pioneers of the Chinese new literature ,both Lu Xun and Mao Dun produced their realistic works in the name of the idea of serving the human life ,and they both conformed to the historical trend of the times ,and both assimilated the essence of China and abroad .However,there are some differences between them,which I have made a comparative study in this paper.Briefly speaking ,Lun Xun's novels have the distinctive features of the enlightment ,paying more attention to the deep thought about the old, never the less, Mao Dun's novels mostly reflect the social changes ,laying particular emphasis on the detailed analysis of the new ,Lun Xun liked to use the trivial and thereby to make a cultural survey of the Chines society ,but Mao Dun prefered to chose the signal and significant theme to mirror the dynamical life pounded at by the society ,and therefrom to make a political and economic survey of the society ;Most of Lu Xun's works depict the country life teammelled by the old tradition,on the contrary ,Mao Dun 's works mostly show the urban life that had broken through the bonds of the tradition .These different creative characteristics between Lu Xun and Mao Dun became the two typical models of realistic novels in Cina ,and furthermore ,these differences and similarities represented the laws ofthe literature's exchange and mutual complement .Through the above comparative studies ,the paper has also made an analysis of the ideological and artistic features in Lu Xun's and Mao Dun's realistic novels.
