Semiotics is a hot point in western contemporary learning study. By melting A-Whitehead's logical symbolism and E-Cassirer's human-culture symbolism, by dissolving critically thought quintessence of Croce, Collingwood and Bell, by sucking up new research product of social and natural sciences and human courses, Susanne-K-Langer's artistic form thought demonstrated that art was the creation of symbolic form of human feelings. Differing from common symbolic theories, Langer's artistic symbolism was a new aesthetic thought and brought up Langer a sole female famous aesthetician in western aesthetics history as yet.Langer paid close attention to the study of artistic form and thought that as a kind of special feeling symbol, art was the form which could systemically show human inner feelings and make us known. The form was a kind of logical form, expressional form and living form at some degrees.The thesis explores the philosophic base of Langer's aesthetic thought, elaborates Langer's theory about the shaping of symbolic form of arts and analyses the structure of her aesthetic thought. Langer's theory on symbolism of arts regards the artistic symbol as organic and entire form. From this, the thesis reveals Langer's point about taking art as independent and self-sufficiency texts world. In conclusion, the author comments on Langer's aesthetics thoughts and indicates that Langer's aesthetics thought has great theory value and practical significance.
