Since ancient times, the space is very important, and the creation of space theory is from the French neo-Marxist philosopher Henri Lefebvre in1974published book The Production of Space. After the70s, the thinking of the spatial theory, becomes a contemporary cultural studies and intellectual hot spot areas of concern, called "spatial turn". After then, appears and construct a new spatial theory called space criticism, apparently the "Space" problem has become the forefront of academic theory. While since the19th century in the West, the thinking of the space has never experienced a very significant transition from being forgotten to being emphasized. However, since the development of the theory of space, with little or no academic concern over Susan K. Lange, as well as her Feeling and Form has embodied in the concept of space and space theory. Lange explored the space problem from the perspective of art theory, which is rare in contemporary space theory. I believe that the art space theory of Lange’s has important significance of reference and instructive for the current theoretical research of space. And the art space theory and the current various theories of space is now merging, mutual inspiration, and common development. I think it would make contribution to the construction and real maturity of the literary space theory and the aesthetic space theory through the space criticism theory. The first chapter introduces the creation of space theory and its steering problems and further explanation of the aesthetics. Literary theory on the spatial dimension of expansion, which leads to Feeling and Form in the art space theory deserves academic attention. The second chapter describes the logical construction Feeling and Form in the art space theory, mainly from the perspective of the two aspects. They are "semiotic interpretation of the theory of the art space" and "the expressive form". In the "semiotic interpretation of the theory of the art space" part including two aspects, that is "scientific and non-scientific mode" and "emotional concepts and emotional symbol". In "the expressive forms "part including four areas, that is" representation space","symbolic space","abstract space" and " intuition and imagination space". In the third chapter, there are various spatial concepts in "Feeling and Form", mainly to explain the plastic arts space-illusory space. In this chapter first discusses Susan Lange’s "illusion" and "basic illusion", and then describes the basic illusion plastic arts, that illusory space-space illusion. Then one by one to explain the spatial illusion of three plastic arts. Painting is "illusory scenery," Sculpture is "illusory dynamic volume", Architecture is "illusory ethnic areas." Finally, that is the conclusion. I summarize and explain the full value and significance of the art space theory in "Feeling and Form" in the history of aesthetic space.
