Zuofu And Chongqing Urban Modernization (1927-1937)

Lu-Zuofu is a great and legendary patriotic industrialist in Chinese modern history. He devoted his short life to boosting the Chongqing's modernization.This thesis emphasizes the following parts:In the first chapter of this thesis, the author attempts to state the reasons why Lu-Zuofu pushed the modernization of Chongqing and the social circumstance of Chongqing from 1927 to 1937.In the main part of this paper, the author represents Lu-Zuofu' s endeavors to promote the social and economic progress of Chongqing.After elaborating Lu' s practices of impelling the modernization of Chongqing, the author analyses the practices' momentous and far-reaching historical significance. Furthermore, the author points out the historic limitation of Lu.In the end, the author summarizes the realistic illumination of Lu' s practices for our current city construction.
