Lu Zuofu And The Modernization Of Chinese Enterprise Management

The modernization of Chinese business management refers to the process that our national industry and commerce business managers draw lessons from western's business management theory and method and combine with Chinese traditional management thought to produce a new business management thought with distinguishing feature. Minsheng Industry Company Ltd launched by Lu Zuofu was started from scratch only with a 70.6 ton-dive -iron- shell ship. Over 2 decades, it developed rapidly to be the biggest shipping consortium of national capital which made important contributions to the development of Chinese modern transportation industry. The success of Minsheng Industry Company Ltd owed to Lu Zuofu's business management thought. Thirdly, " minsheng spirit" initiated by Lu Zuofu is called the effective model of modern enterprise culture construction which includes patriotism, collectivism , service society, arduous pioneering and industry. Nowadays, the enterprise culture theory has become the important topic in the development of Chinese and western mangement thoughts. "Minsheng spirit" of half centry ago is the pioneer of modern "enterprise culture" which is worth using as a source of reference and passing on by present business world. All in all, Lu Zuofu's business management theory is of originality and pioneering feature in many aspects, which stands for the highest achievement of modern business management as well as the important symbol of the modernization of Chinese business management. It is of vital instructive meaning and can be used for reference to our present business management.There have been a lot of fragmental studies on Lu Zuofu's thought and practice but they aren't systematic; there are also many deep researches on his thought but with less evaluation; in particular, no study is about the relationship between Lu Zuofu's business management thought and Chinese business management currently. This paper mainly studies and evaluates Lu Zuofu's organization management thought, personel management thought and minsheng spirit; preliminarily probes and investigates the relationship between Lu Zuofu's management thought and the modernization of Chinese management thought. This will be of geat value to the management thought construction of Chinese national character.
