Western Marxism "general" Doctrine And Its Revelation

As an ideological trend that tries to combine western philosophy with Marxism, Western Marxism has a special status not only in the history of western philosophy but also in the developing history of Marxism. The study of the ideological trend is helpful for us to more deeply understand Marxism more totally know capitalism and more realistically grasp socialism.Taking the theory of "total man" in Western Marxism as object, the thesis announces the specific content of the theory of each school in Western Marxism and emphatically explains its enlightenment.The thesis consists of three sections: the first section points out realistic backgrounds and theoretical origin of the theory .The realistic backgrounds include the crisis in the developing of Marxism, the defeat of Soviet-socialism and the fact of "alien man" in capitalist society. The theoretical origin consists of western philosophy (especially contemporary western humanism) and Marx's ideas in his early age. On the Marxist principle of "unity of logical and historical", the second section elaborately introduces the main content of the theory of " total man". In the section, We can know not only the specific content of the theory in all schools of Western Marxism (Hegelist Marxism, Existential Marxism, Frankfurt School) but also the internal connection and historical trend of the theory. The third section specially explains enlightenment of the theory. The enlightenment includes the following points: Marxism should pay more attention to the study of man's problem, the study should be considered on the background of modernization, reflection on modernization should stress the critical function of Marxism. In a word, the theory of "total man" is helpful for us to correctly know and deal with some problems in the course of modernization.
