Saint And Emperor - "the Book Of Rites," The Ideological And Political Goals Of Education

The book of Rites is a collection of documents which formed at the time when the confucianists expounded their thought through explaining the book of Ceremony from Warring states to the Early Han Dynasty. It is complied by Daisheng in West Han Dynasty and adds up to forty-nine chapters. This collection is an important ancient codes and records which studies the theory of our ancient ideological and political education. The thesis tends to probe into the ideological and political educational aim of Sageliness Within and Kingliness Without through studying the book of Rites.The article is divided into five sections.The first section studies the meaning of the ideological and political educational aim of Sageliness Within and Kingliness Without and the basis of its establishment. On the basis of defining the meaning of Sageliness Within and Kingliness Without, this part starts with the historical features of the Confucian ideological and political education andanalyses the meaning of Sageliness Within and Kingliness Without as the aim of ideological and political education.The second section probes into the theoretical prop. First, the thesis studies the theory of Heaven and Man and points out that the essence of of Heaven and Man and emphasizes the necessity and possibility. Then the thesis analyses the relation between Human nature and ideological and political education from the aspects of the theory of Human nature and points out the goods and evils of human nature is the theoretical base of carrying out different ideological and political education.The third section studies the basic contents of the book of Rites. This part defines the content from Morality ,ethics and accomplishment. The three connect with each other and overlap one another. Then the article points out that the aim of ideological and political education of the book of Rites is embodied by the aim of morality and served by the aim of ethics. The aim of accomplishment links the morality and ethics.The fourth section studies the main methods and ways achieving the aim of ideological and political education from two aspects.The last part sums up the basic characteristics and the modern values of the aim of ideological and political education, Sageliness Within and Kingliness Without of the book of Rites.
