Richard Strauss Opera "salome" Research

Richard Strauss is one of the most important composers between the end of 19 century and the beginning of 20 century. His operas are characterized of former tradition, his own style and some of the tendency of 20 century music. Salome is the most disputed work of Richard Strauss. For this reason, the dissertation studied the original literature work Salome, the status of society, thoughts of literati and the author, in order to study the background of the work. In base of that, the dissertation analyzed the factors and ideology of this music-drama and the music drastically. After that, I think Salome possess lofty musical technique, dramatic expressive force. It is an excellent theater musical work. But its ideally content and spirit connotation appears superficial and paleness owing to the cutting of Oscar Wilde's work. The paradoxical phenomenon reflexes the individuality of Strauss and his contemporary commonness. In spite of this, the value of the opera Salome can not be written off.
