The freehand brushwork in the Chinese local literature has a long history , among which the " poetic homeland " has always been the theme at the core . through combing the whole Chinese local literature , this article specifically discusses different periods of its development in both connection and extension of the " poetic homeland " theme , which traces back to 1930s-1940s represented by Shen Congwen , the earty 1980s represented by Wang Zengqi and the 1990s represented by Liu Liangcheng and Wei An.This article analyzes the different choices among Zhou Zuoren , Fei Ming and Shen Congwen in the course of their explorations of the " poetic homeland " : It points out the perplexity of Shen s choice in the dilemmatic cultures and the inner paradox in the " world in the west of Hu Nan province " structured by himself as well as highlights his " human ideal " theory .Wang Zengqi, as a local literator in the new age who is the only one can form a connecting link between Shen Congwen and the following , is superior to Shen in the integration of the modern sense and the people-to-people attitude . But owing to his obstinacy in aestheticism and the classical " harmony " theory ,the " harmonious world " he built himself is no more than the expectation and indulgence in the nature of a literati s wishful thinking . In the 1990s , started with Zhang Wei s " September s fables " , the " land ethics " bursts the human being s egoism and forms Liu Liangcheng and Wei An s new value orientation in the local prose creation . Liu uses " keep watch the origin of life " to stabilize his poetic imagination of the countryside, while Wei An uses "nonviolence" , "the pursuit of the human integrality, "Farble s living thing law " and " surpass the humanitarianism " , etc . As a philosophical foundation to structure a " homeland pattern " in the mind of a pious disciple s .From Shen Congwen , Wang Zengqi to Liu Liangcheng and Wei An , the " poetic homeland " takes on all kinds of " ideology " and respectively limited " meaning " , gestated by different cultural concepts , which shows it s becoming farther and farther away from the concrete countryside , and nearer and nearer close to people s heart , pushing both its connection and extension almost to the limit . Although being more and more able to reflect people s mind , it is predestinated not to be relied on in the real-life situation .
