One is to analyze the cause of his artistic view of pursuing novelty in writing by "ears and eyes". The other is to analyze the cause of his claim of "harmless to readers" in morality, and to confirm the effort he made to bring his novel closer to life by the contrast between "San Yan" and "Xing Shi Yan".The first chapter is Introduction. Before the precise demonstration, the author gives a brief introduction to the selection of the researching object and the reason in choosing it.The second Chapter summarizes the current researching situation and finds out the focus of the argument. The third chapter discusses the reason why Ling Mengchu advocates the type of story one can acquire by "ears and eyes". Firstly, the despised status of stories acquired by "ears and eyes" reveals the requirement in exploring its novelty. Secondly, the appearance of stories on human relationships provides Ling Mengchu with feasibility of acquiring novelty in writing stories by "ears and eyes". Finally, the dissertation concludes with that the novelty in stories acquired by "ears and eyes" represents Ling Mengchu's highest standard in story writing. As we can see, to achieve the effect of "novel and ample in signs" is actually Ling Mengchu's basic criterion in writing, and the stories acquired by "ears and eyes" at least meets it.The following aims to expose the difference between "San Yan" and "Er Pai". The author thinks that Feng and Lu attach more importance to the educational role of stories while Ling Mengchu emphasizes the effect of "novelty" in reading. Feng and Lu take stories as the assistance for the classics, which excludes the stories novel but devoid of moral content. In contrast, Ling Mengchu holds that stories contribute little to the nation and are not great exploit, so there isn't too much moral burden in his writing. Ling Mengchu's stories are more commercial and the amusement of them plays an important role in obtaining profits. Therefore, "novelty" meets the requirement of entertainment and that is where Ling Mengchu stresses particularly. At last, the dissertation attempts to seek the causation for the different thoughts and practice in writing among the three novelists through their individual experiences. In conclusion, though Ling Mengchu holds certain moral and artistic criteria in story writing, he takes the amusement of stories as the core and rejects to exaggerate its social function. Therefore, his views on story writing have unusual significance in the times. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Ling Mengchu, views on story writing, novelty, ample signs, education, harmless | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
