The Eastern Han Dynasty Social Security Research

The social security of the Eastern Han Dynasty is fragmental in con-cret implementation, but as a whole it still forms the embryo of the plate system. This paper atlempts to explore this issue from the followng four aspects.The first part deals with the Main content of the social allowances, making comprehensine exosition of three aspects, that is, contingency allowances, conventinal allonances, charity allowances. The second part expounds the social welfare, pointing out it goes only to these prvileged people and analying it in such forms as education welfare, marriage welfare , funeral welfare, retirement welfare and the welfare for the aged pe-ple. The third part elaborates the military security. Such conclusion is drawn that the armymen are better secured by analyzing the military supply system, political position, economic status, life quality and preferential treatment for family members of revolutionary martys. The last part illustrates the functions of the folk security in terms of social mutual aid and personal savings.
