Quasi-orientation Of Modern Chinese Standard

This thesis aims at elaborating on the quasi - location - mark of modem Chinese. In modem Chinese mere is a kind of substantives referring to body or object parts, including ""边,面,头,顶,�',心,脚,口,首,尾,腰,脊,背,根,底,际,沿,尖,梢,端", etc.They often attach to the end of other words to form location as locative words do but have stronger lexical meaning than them. So in the thesis the locative word is called "prototypical location mark", "prototypical mark "in short, and the above mentioned kind of substantives is called" quasi -location - mark , "quasi - mark "in short. Based on the methods of integrating form with meaning,staticness with dynamicness,descriptiveness with interpre-tiveness, and synchrony with diachrony , the thesis probes into the quasi - location - mark of modem Chinese in many respects.This thesis consists of the following five parts:I . Distribution features of quasi - location - mark.This part compares the quasi - location - mark with the prototypical location mark and the related entity noun so as to exploring the distribution features of the quasi - location - mark, and points out that the distribution features of the quasi - location - mark moves between the common noun and the prototypical location mark.II . Quasi - location - mark and its referential point.This part mainly discusses the collocative limitation of the quasi - location- mark and its referential point, analyses the influence of unbalanced capacity of collocation of the quasi - location - mark, the diagram function of language and source meaning of the quasi - location - mark on the collocation. At the same time it points out the categories of the nouns that can not be used as the referential point.III. Locative meaning and reference of quasi - location - mark.This part first divides the quasi - location - mark into simple location quasi - mark and complex location quasi - mark, stressing on analyzing the locative meaning of the complex location quasi - mark ; then it discusses the locative referential types related to judging the binding domain of the quasi -location - mark.IV . Comparison of related patterns.Comparing the "NP-Z"pattem with the "NP-D"pattem and the "(NP-Z).D" pattern, this part probes into the pragmatic value of the "NP'Z"pattern.V . Grammaticalization process of the quasi - location - mark.This part discusses the process of the quasi - location - mark from embryo to formal formation, holds that generalization and metaphor are the main mechanisms of nouns referring to body or object parts being grammaticalized to quasi - location - marks, and points out that the quasi - location - mark inherits the valence capacity of the noun referring to body or object parts and that its semantic development is subjected to the source meaning.
