While the large amount of western art flowing into China, traditional Chinese painting were affected time by time, Chinese portrait painting has reached an historical intersaction,the key question is that by what appearance it should be to face the public in this modern painting world.This essay will shortly analyze Chinese historical portrait painting with-some specific examples, mainly from these two aspects. One is: modern painting' s absorbing and melting from historical painting(drawing which combined the interitence and characteristics).the other is: during the same historical perioc,the painting' s absorbing and melting from artist between nations,styles,regions,groups and races. Through these two kinds analysis, you can find that Chinese portrait painting has grown up with it' s own characteristics under the environment of opening and innovating, and what is the base why Chinese portrait painting stands out in the world.So,one conclusion, absorbing and melting play an important role and push the development of the historical Chinese portrait painting ,and also important to the modern Chinese portrait painting.Realizing and using these two rules are very important in our painting practice.
