Shang Dynasty Economy, Kingship, And Relationship Between The Two

Main content:Relying on oracle bone inscriptions, writing on bronzes and other archaeological evidence, as well as records in ancient texts, this thesis probes comparatively comprehensively into the Shang Dynasty's economy and the relationship between the Shang Dynasty's economy and the Shang Dynasty's kingship.It is divided into five parts.In the first part, I date back to the research results on the Shang Dynasty's economy and the kingship.In the second part, I probe into that the Shang Dynasty's economy. The Shang Dynasty's political power is composed by the king, the clansmans , the duckes under an emperor and the princes under an emperor. This kind of composition decides that the Shang Dynasty's economy consisting of the king's economy, the clansmans' economy, the duckes' under an emperor economy and the princes' under an emperor ecomomy. They have relative independence and influence each other at the same time.In the third part, I prove that the Shang Dynasty's kingship and discuss it's feature, expression and change.In the fourth part, I discuss the relationship between the Shang Dynasty's economy and the Shang Dynasty's kingship. The kingship getting stronger and stronger that makes the king's economy enlarged, merges the clansmans' economy into the king's economy and cripples the duckes' and princes' under an emperor economy. Generally speaking, the kingship strengthen suits the needs of social development and promotes the development ofsocial economy and raises the level of the social production. Only in the later period of the Shang Dynasty, the kingship expands excessively and goes beyond the limit of the social development,so that the social economy is damaged seriously.In the last part, the main points are summed up. New ideas :In this thesis, I bring forth some new ideas: one, the angle of the view that I discuss the Shang Dynasty's economy is different from the research achievements of the predecessors. The former research lays paticular emphasis on the king's economy. I discuss different administrative levels economy of the Shang Dynasty. Two, I conclude the relationship between the Shang Dynasty's economy and the kingship what is less in the former research.
