The Agricultural Economy Of The Shang Dynasty Shang Civilization

This paper was constructed on the basis of many researches in this field. According to typical tribal ruins of Shang dynasty and relevant document, this paper tries to analyzing the function, position and development level of agriculture in the social economy of Shang dynasty .The most important problem the paper wants to solve is how the agricultural development affects the social living condition at that time.This paper has four chapters.The first chapter is to introduce the ecology environment of agriculture production in Shang dynasty. Superior ecology environment is the base and the key of agricultural development. This part analyses the effects of superior ecology environment bring to agriculture of Shang dynasty according to the climate, rainfall, topography and soil of Shang dynasty.The second chapter is about the agricultural production instruments of Shang dynasty. It is a very important factor on how to understand social productive forces and social economic pattern. There are many kinds of instruments in Shang dynasty including ploughing, weeding, reaping and so on. They made important roles in agricultural production.The third chapter is about the type of crops in Shang dynasty which is an important facet on reflecting the level of agricultural production. All kinds of crops indicated that the people at that time have high ability to breed the plant. There are many kinds of crops in Shang dynasty: standing grain, millet, paddy, wheat, sorghum and so on.The fourth chapter is about the main part status and YinShang culture. It analyses the per mu yield of Shang dynasty on the basis of the level and status of agricultural development and directly confirms that the level of agricultural development at that time is high. It also proves that whole societies rely on the agriculture and agriculture is the foundation of the boom of the society from the effects of agriculture brought to city and handicraft industry. We can see that agriculture is an very important material condition not only for society, but also for the whole Yin Shang culture.
