Meng, Xun Development And Reconstruction, Confucius' Theory Of Human Nature

By the dissection of bi - polarity trend embodied in Confucius' theory of human nature and the analysis of the development and reconstruction in one of the two polars (evil or kind)respectively by Mencius and Xun Zi,this paper discovers the inner logical relation among the theories of human nature held by Confucius ', Mencius and Xun 71 and the transmulation process of these theories, It displays the richness and the developability of Confucianism,as well as the important role which the theory of human nature plays in Confucianism system.The whole paper includes preface,body and conclusion,the body is dev-ided into 3 parts.Preface:A brief statement about the present study situation in the field and the study aim and significance of this paper.Part I :The bi - polarity trend embodied in Confucius' theory of human nature.This part argues that Confucius' theory of human nature has the bi -polarity trend of evil nature and kind nature through deep analysis of Confucius' rites theory and benevolence theory.Part II :The development and reconstruction, made by Mencius, of the connotation of kind nature embodied in Confucius benevolence theory. Mencius stated the universality of kind nature and the possibility of being kind.Based on this, he formed morality cultivation theory and the theory of the gov-eminent of benevolence which both have kind nature as the foundation.Part III : The development and reconstruction, made by Xun Zi, of the connotation of evil nature embodied in Confucius' rites theory. Xun Zi stated the reason of human nature being evil. He formed the morality cultivation theory which evolved from evil nature and the politics theory of the government of rites.Conclusion: Further statement on the logical relation among the theory of human mature respectively held by Conficius, Mencius and Xun Zi.
