Northern Song Dynasty And Liao Dynasty

The relationship between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty is an important chapter in the history of peoples' relationship of our country. Although, from beginning to end, there existed fierce war conflict between them, peaceful communication is the mainstream of this period. Communication of politics, economy and culture, handed an impetus to their co - development, which quickened the steps of peoples' combination. However, to the study of the relationship between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty, the academia has only dealed with some aspects or some periods for a long time, which is not systematic and complete enough. To study it, not only can do a favor for us to search for the tract of peoples' combination, which can improve the peoples' unity. It also has a learning for significance for us to deal with the relationship among the peoples correctly and to exploit the great Western. ThivS dissertation tries a complete search for the relationship of the peace - war, economy and culture between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty on the basis of previous studying.This dissertation is divided into 4 parts :Part I: It expresses the war and peace between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty in 3 stages as a whole . 1. The stage of conflicting each other in war (960 - 1004): the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty fought each other for sovereignty of the Yanyun Prefecture territory . They defeated and was defeated so that there had a balance gradually between them and formed a situation of confronting each other. 2. The stage of confronting each other in peace (1004 -1120) :In order to sustain the peaceful situation, both the governors took a great effort. Although there were some conflicts in this time , there wasn't any large scale war. 3.The stage of attacking the Liao Dynastywith the help of the Jing Dynasty (1120 - 1125) : In order to recover theYanyun Prefecture, the Northern Song Dynasty attacked the Liao Dynasty with the help of the Jing Dynasty . Under the combinative attacking of the Northern Song Dynasty and the Jing Dynasty , (he Liao Dynasty died soon. And because of the Northern Song Dynasty's wrong diplomatic policy,it died after the Liao Dynasty soon.Part II: It expresses the relationship of economy between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty, through annual current, exchanging present, official trade, formal monopoly trade and unofficial trade,the economy communication gave an impetus to their co- development and the social progress, which founded the stable foundation for the acceleration of peoples' combination.Part III: It describes the culture relationship between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Liao Dynasty. By means of learning,affecting and penetrating each other,on the one hand ,Qidan Culture became Hannish gradually, on the other hand ,Qidan Culture also had a clear or unclear effect on Han Culture .By the exchange of culture,they got a annex for the peoples' combination.Part IV : It recaps the major experience and lessons in how to deal with peoples' relationship . This dissertation takes it as true that peaceful co-existence is the premise for the development of economy and culture; and also only by powerful economy can one country keep her sovereignty and independence .
