The system of monoply began with XiHan dynasty. When it was developed to Tang dynasty, it had formed a set of more perfect system which had new contents and characters. The practice of the system of monoply had important effect on the construction of the system and the social life in the later period of Tang dynasty. Meanwhile it had also set a foundation for the further development and improvement of the system of monoply. On the base of collecting, excavating and sorting out the data and the Marxism historical methods, this paper expounded the reasons, contents, characters and influence of the system of monoply in Tang dynasty.The thesis consisted of four parts:The first part discussed the reasons of the practice of the system of monoply. The author pointed out strengthening the centralization of authority was the basic purpose. There were other important reasons such as the development of commercial economy, the financial difficulties and the expansion of local power.The second part narrated the contents of the system of monoply. According to the rising and falling of the system of monoply, the distributed place of monoply commodity, the organization of monoply, the management system of monoply, the writer gave a comprehensive explanation of the system of monoply in Tang dynasty.The third part analyzed the characters of the system of monoply in Tang dynasty. New characters such as more rich monoply forms, wider monoply range, more perfect monoply organization, tighter management of smuggling were appeared.The forth part commented the influence of the system of monoply in Tang dynasty. The practice of the system of monoply had brought huge state revenue and weakened the local power. Iy had hindered the development of the commodity economy and also catalysised the collapse of the Tang dynasty.
