In the recent years with the establishment and development of the socialist market system in our country, deep changes have taken place in moral values and human relationships and the traditional relations between doctors and patients are also confronted with new problems. Especially with the development of modern medicine, the patterns of medicine have been form the traditionally biological medicine into the biological, psychological and social medicine patterns. In terms of the new characters and trends as well as the increasing medical conflicts and tense relations between doctors and patients under the condition of market economy, medical students should be strengthened in the medical moral education. What medical morals should medical students possess to adapt them to the future jobs in medicine and help them with good relations with patients? What problems should be well resolved in the course of medical moral education? All these are significantly worth discussing and research. Some reflections are offered in this paper.The paper falls into four parts.The first part deals with the changes in relations between doctors and patients, together with the analysis of the increases in medical conflicts and intense relations between patients and doctors under the conditions of market economy. Meanwhile, it is pointed out that the development of market economy appeals for new types of relations between doctors and patients. However, the harmonious doctor-patient relations which fit in with the development require that medical workers transform their traditional notions to form friendly communication and contact with patients and respect the patients' rights.The second part deals with the influences of profit and competition laws on the moral education.. It points out that market economy is competitive economy in good order. Better medical morals are great wealth of hospitals and can bring better social profits and financial profits to further the development of hospitals. The socialist market economy requires its corresponding moral education in medicine. However, many problems in teaching notions and the structures of textbooks as well as teaching methods remain to be solved.The third part covers the establishment of educational target systems at different levels and realizing the human nature of medical moral education as well as founding of new medical moral education system. Medical moral education should fit in with the laws of modern education by using modern educational means, effective educational activities should be undertaken on new planes. Modern medical moral education should be improved in the beliefs of medical morals, norms of medical morals, medical profession spirits and arts of communication in doctor-patient.The fourth part deals with medical morals education as a subject rich in theory and practice, which has its system of theory and knowledge and science. Medical students need to have better insight into the theories of medical moral education and grasp them. Therefore, school education is the best way to receive medical moraleducation as the first classroom for medical students to lean the theories and knowledge of medical morals. At the same time, it must be realized that excellent medical morals should be developed gradually. Medical moral education should be completed not only in colleges but also in the stages of clinical practice. The moral education in the course of medical practice helps medical students to change the principles and norms of medical morals into interior their noble beliefs and values of medical morals.
