With the development of the economy, people pay more and more attention to the appearance and comfort of environment. The desire improved, and people begin to know the sign design. As a special vision transmit system, sign design has developed more in recent years. So far as paying a little attention, we can find some beautiful and best-made sign design everywhere. But the sign design development still under-developed the development of environment establishing and actual need. Most of people have not realized the real meaning of the sign design, including the academe.Most of the sign designs systems we can see know have more or less problems, lacking professional and scientific spirit. Looking on the design, sign design system seems to plan design, but these systems are finally used on the space environment. To the public, sign design system has powerful functionality; and to the facture, sign design system involves more material and skill, not formal presswork. All of these have distinguished the sign design from the plan design. So it needs all kinds of professional knowledge and practice experience.Actually, most of designers are less of knowledge and practice experience of the skill and materials, and they also think less of the objects' deed characteristic, reading habit and environment. They only sit in front of the computers, acting blindly; the effect in computers is good, that's ok. Then passive facture and construction are going on, lacking the active communicating. Most of customers also look on sign design system as common trademark, not realize it's real value and significance, so they have not high standard to the designers.So above conditions all affect the development of the newly sign design system. This thesis stands on the professional point of view to divide the city sign design into different kinds, and then combine the living example and the writer's own experience and taste to analyze and study in theory. In the thesis, there are many particular point of views, and explain every essential factor of sign design by the number. All of these will influence the theory establishment and professional study of sign design.
