In the earliest mural, you can find origin for all oriental and occidental drawings. Just as the earliest human drawings, Altamira and Lascaus murals, were made around fifteen thousand years B.C., mural develops together with human evolution. Mural is the trace of record of the mental world of mankind, and is also a historic book on the wall. Especially, mural is the most accessible work of art in life, and has always been developing so far.Along with the increasingly complicated modern society, modern fine arts change in various modes, too. By utilizing the works, composition, three dimensional expression, etc. of high-classed media, the rich and colorful means of expression have come to the edge of imagination. Modern painting tends to follow the characteristics of modern people, that is, the originally very individualized style has gradually developed into something only limited to a few well-educated people, which is a great pity in deed.We cannot judge art products only from one point of view, but should also notice their materialistic aspect and the aspect of internal spiritual pursuit. That is to say, spiritual pursuit is the foundation of expression, but we have to say, the visual sense aspect and superficial aspect are also very important to expression and representation. With this regard, I have realized the importance of the mural as the starting point of artistic behavior. The study on it should be carried out not only for a specified class.of people, but should take it as a religious mural art easily accessible to most people. The purpose of this study is to re-discover the value of mural that has become a popular art in its developing process, and probe into its modes of combination with religion and the artistic characteristics of religious mural.
