In the case of literature and art, sometimes in the Darker Ages arise more splendid literary works. Comparing with the 1920s, in the 1930s the social conditions in China were darker and more confused and the cultural atmosphere was more strained and stuffier. However at that time Chinese modern literature made more multiplex and" creative development than in the 1920s. One compelling fact is that a swarm of great funsters and humorous works came up in the 1930s. The phenomenon affords food for thought. What makes it come into being cannot be as an empty hole invites the wind. The reason of it involves the current background and other subtle factors. According to it, here penman plans to expound the problem from the point of culture, study the novels of Chinese literature in the 1930s, discuss and try to discover the humorous character of them by some specific texts. The frame of my dissertation is just as follows:Introduction:Synopsize Chinese traditional theories of humor and literature and point out that in China modern theories of humor have gradually set up since "human" was discovered in the " May 4th campaign.Chapter 1:Contributions of Humor Theory in the 1930s: Sum up modem theories of humor which directly affect the creation of Chinese literature in the 1930s, demarcate the conceptions of Satire and Humor and define the comprehension of Humor.Chapter 2:Literature Interpretation of Humorous Novel Texts in the 1930s: According to the specific texts, expound Humor of Chinese novels in 1930s from three aspects which are display in content, style of writing and aesthetic conformation.Chapter 3:Culture Analysis of Humor Novel Texts in the 1930s: expound the cultural meaning which is implied in humorous novels in the 1930s and point out it has some Modernity character.Epilogue:Humor in Chinese novels in the 1930s had an original Modernity pursuit, which made the whole creation of novels both in the style and content differ from the traditional ones. And now it still has its own literary charm and investigative value. So in the history of Chinese humorous literature, Chinese novels in the 1930s may take an unassailable place.
