Social adaptive behavior, once called Social competence, is how anindividual independently goes through his daily routine and accomplishes social responsibilities, based on his age and the requirements of the society.I am a Korean student studying Psychology in Shanghai, China and I have opportunity to compare the difference in the social adaptive behavior in Korean and Chinese children.Korea and China are neighboring countries in the same Mandarine cultural category and have had a close relationship in politically, economically and historically. However, each country has its own unique culture, language, thought, and custom.This research uses the survey in 'Child Social Adaptive Behavior Scale' made by Hangzhou University department of Psychology. The subjects of the research are 97 Chinese children in Shanghai, 51 Korean children in Shanghai, 42 Korean children in Seoul, making a total of 190 children surveyed in Shanghai and Seoul.The study can be summarized as the following: 1.There has been a significant difference in social adaptive behaviorbetween the children of China and Korea. Especially, the study revealedthe significant difference in Locomotion, Communication, Socialization,Self-Direction. 2.There has been a significant difference in social adaptive behaviorbetween the boys of China and Korea. Especially, the study revealedthe significant difference in Locomotion, Socialization, Self-Direction. 3.There has been a significant difference in social adaptive behaviorbetween the girls of China and Korea. Especially, the study revealedthe significant difference in Locomotion, Communication, Socialization,Self-Direction. 4There has been a significant difference in social adaptive behaviorbetween the sex. Especially, the study revealed the significantdifference in Self-Help and Socialization. 5.There has been a significant difference in social adaptive behaviorbetween the Korean children in Shanghai and Seoul.
