Study Of The Song Dynasty Seal

This thesis is devoted to the analysis and research on the seal of Song dynasty by a host of documents and materials, books on seals, seals and seals in the works of Chinese painting and calligraphy. Firstly, starting with the angle of official and private seals, it catches the classification of the seals in Song dynasty. Secondly, by investigating into the overall style and character of the seals in Song dynasty, it reveals the characteristics of the seals in Song dynasty, which is called "Song Jia Yang" in Chinese. It analyses the reasons of the characteristics and also elaborates the seal system, the development of philology and seal cutting and the influence and restriction to the art style of the official and private seals in Song dynasty. Finally, by probing into the materials of literati seals and sorting out the books on seals of ancient times in Song dynasty, it explicates the simple and plain aesthetic consciousness of seals of Song dynasty, which brings the enlightenment to the aesthetic standard of seals of Yuan dynasty, and gives full evidence that the seal of Song dynasty has important position in Chinese ancient seal cutting art history.
