Study On The Collection And Records Of Ancient Seals In Ding Chou Jie Yu Yin Cun

Ding Chou jie yu yin cun is the collection of seals edited by Ding Ren,Gao Shifu,Ge Changying and Yu Rencui after the 1937 Wusong Campaign.Then Wang Fuan authorized these seals,and Wang Xiuren rubbed them on paper.Meanwhile Gao Yehou wrote a preface to this work.There are a total of more than 1,900 seals of 273 engravers,such as Wen Zhengming and his son Wen Peng in the Ming dynasty,Ye Yusen and Gao Hui in the late Qing dynasty,most of which are exquisite and precious.What’s more,it is the first collection of impressions of seals by scholars of the Ming and Qing dynasties,and it has a very important value and significance in the history of Sphragistics.In this paper,the study of Ding Chou jie yu yin cun is mainly divided into two aspects: the seal record itself and the style of the ancient seals recorded in it.The first chapter studies the seal record itself,It mainly includes the analysis of the historical background and personal factors of the compilation of Ding Chou jie yu yin cun,the sorting out of the process of the compilation,the summarization of the compilation style of the printing,the generalization of the available editions and the exploration of the sources of the four collections of Ding Ren,Gao Shifu,Ge Changying and Yu Rencui.The second chapter studies the style of the collection of ancient seals in this work,mainly involving the shape and composition of seal-surface,the format,boundary,side bar and type of seals and other issues.In this chapter,it also studies and analyzes the typography from three perspectives: imitating the scripts on seals of the Warring States Period,imitating inscriptions on ancient bronze objects and the scripts design of the seal cutting.The third chapter is about the exhibition and reflection of graduation productions.The first is to sort out the conception process of the creation of the series of ancient seals “Preserved Through Difficulties”,which mainly includes the determination of the style of the works,the selection of the contents of the seals,the creation of the seal style and the presentation of the production.Secondly,the creation process of the series of ancient seals of “Preserved Through Difficulties” will be sorted out and displayed.On the one hand,the source of character selection,arrangement of script and thought for this composition in the creation process will be sorted out.On the other hand,the creation of seal cutting production will be displayed.The last part reflects on the graduation creation process from the three aspects of calligraphy practice,accumulation of learning accomplishment and the theory of seals art learning,which is not only the self-examination,but also the direction of future study and efforts.
