"One divides into three" is the traditional thought of Chinese classical aesthetics. It oversteps the thought which uphold "one divides into two". But for a long time, "one divides into two" controlled the development of aesthetics, produced a lot of malpractices. At the new historical stage, we must change the made of thinking, so as to set up a new research system of aesthetics.The first part summarizes the characteristics of "one divides into two", and discusses the harms toward aesthetics.The second part analyses the appearance of "one divides into three" in the Chinese classical theories. From the shoot, happen, develop to mature, this text choose some representative theories to explain.The third part probes into five categories of aesthetics, excavates the thinking of "one divides into three".The forth part researches the made of Chinese classical thinking, because these are the basics of "one divides into three".At last, in the fifth part, this text gives an initial summary about the current significance. The thought is not only ancient, but also young. It is the main reason why we attach importance to "one divides into three".
