The facts and phenomena in life tells us that life without beauty is miserable, although beauty is not all of life; however a variety of beauty in life presents us with a anarchic picture. Hence, it is a major task to discover the laws behind, which determines the basic nature of aesthetics is to serve life and human nature, and this fact shows that aesthetics is as near to our life as beauty is.The research areas of aesthetics generally fall into two categories, the first is introvertd research about the nature of beauty and aesthetic regulations, the second is the extrovert research about the social function of beauty and aesthetics, which is briefly analyzed in this thesis. This thesis divides extrovert research into the early period mainly of exploring arts and literature creation and appreciation, and the late period mainly of analyzing the rules of aesthetic thoughts, psychology, emotion etc; extroverted research categorizes into constructive research of early period and critical research of late period. And take the critical aesthetic research as the major object whose limitations are analyzed. First, critical aesthetics itself has a constructive implication, and reveal to what degree has life materializes into, and to what degree we are not ourselves. But the criticization of critical aesthetic presents a absolute inclination, and kill our life world, and the rescue plan brought up by it has a sense of Utopian, and as a result the realistic meaning of critical aesthetics is lessoned.How shall we treat today's living world in a healthy way, and recover it to an appropriate and normal situation? After critical aesthetics, we start to reconsider literature, mainly classic literature, aiming at recovering people's aesthetic world and aesthetic life by literature, and further achieve the purpose of returning to that appropriate and normal life. In this process, we employ the comparative view, in combination with the characteristics of literature itself, to argue that in what sense has modern arts and classic arts lost it mass foundation as aesthetic rescue, and then describes in what sense the absolute aesthetic strength implied in nature is weak in comparison with literature; and further discusses the reasons we choose literature.
