Artistic Characteristics Of The Bellini Opera "norma"

Bellini is one of the most significant Italian opera playwrights in the 19th century. His opera is written with typical Italian cultural tradition, together with new creation of national representation. In many of his famous works, there are arias that have been regarded both as the greatest achievement of art and as the most important part in opera teaching. Therefore it is crucial to improve the singer's artistry and skills through the way of knowing the artistic feature of Bellini's opera.In order to develope music teaching and opera playing, in this thesis we have made an overall exploration on Bellini's contributions on opera and his artistic achievements, through the analysis of Norma. We have explored Bellini's views on opera writing, the musical structure of his work, his language of music, and his creation on the fulfillment of the characters. The purpose is to provide a deeper and wider understanding for the singers on Bellini's opera, so that the singer will gain an accurate insight into Bellini's work and represent the styles of the work authentically.The structure of this thesis is illustrated as the following: (a.) The introduction, a general review on this thesis, (b.) Chapter 1 is about a survey of the literature on opera, (c.) Chapter 2 is about the artistic features of Bellini's work Norma. (d) Chapter 3 analyzes the creative distribution of characters in Norma. (e) Chapter 4 sees the features of aria in Bellini's another work castiva. (f.) Chapter 5 represents the influence of Bellini's artistic talent on opera, (g) Conclusion.
