Natural Disasters, Of The Tang Dynasty

The natural calamities have always been the important problems during the development of our human society. To know about the reason why those natural calamities happened, and to know about the laws of their developments is the basic way for us to prevent and manage them effectively. The research on ancient natural calamities can help us to understand the developments and laws of calamities accurately. In china's history, the report and the record of calamities were all more effective than before since the Tang dynasty, which offered more material for us to study the natural calamities in the Tang Dynasty.The natural calamities are natural phenomenon, but at the same time they are results of the interactions between nature and human society. So the natural calamities have both natural attribute and social attribute. The research in the past focused more on the government's relieving thought and behavior, while pay less attention to the natural calamities themself. Even sometimes the research involve some content of the natural attribute of the natural calamity, its researching theory and approach are comparatively single and seldom combined with other natural disciplines, so maybe it is not very accurate and scientific.The subject of this paper is mainly about the natural attributes of the natural calamities in the Tang Dynasty. We will summed up all kinds of natural calamities and their laws of happening or companion and laws of geographical distribution in the Tang Dynasty according to the modern scientific theory; then we can evaluate the grades of the natural calamities, at last, we can present our research results by a large amount of charts.In a word, the combination of the traditional historical method with modern natural science in order to research the natural attributes of the natural calamities in the Tang Dynasty is the main content of this paper.
