During the process of the major competitions, the phenomenon that the excellent athletes did not exert well so that the competition is failed is not uncommon, the coach's guidance and the athlete's efforts get the opposite of the results of the expectations, which is the ironic effect showed in external guide. In the sports teaching and athletic competition, the guidance of teachers and coaches is an important factor in achieving good teaching effect and sports performance. Therefore, this article wants to explore whether negative external guidance will have an ironic effect on the performance of golf putting. In addition, there is also a complex relationship between the personality, academic performance and competition performance, the athletes of certain personality traits and sports performance has a significant correlation. In consequence, this article will also explore whether the personality traits and the ironic effect showed in test results is related, whether the different personality traits will affect the ironic effect showed in results. In this study,58 students of golf majors in Wuhan Sports University were selected to carry out the experimental design of single factor between subjects. The independent variables is the way of eternal guidance, which divided into positive and negative levels. The dependent variables is the scores of the subjects, which is the distance and the direction of the ball from the hole, and the rate of putting into the hole. The experiment was conducted to measure the base line results of the ten putts without any guidance. Then the subjects were randomly divided into two groups. One group received positive guidance and the other group received negative guidance, recorded ten putts experimental results. The results show that there is a significant difference between the positive group and the negative group in the left offset distance and the left disparity rate, and the actual place direction of the golf and the ratio of the non-coincidence with the negative instruction in the negative group is significantly different from that of the positive group, indicating that the negative guidance will have a ironic effect. The main effect of the subjects' personality and the way of guidance on the results of the putter is not significant, but after multiple comparison of the left offset distance, the high I type personality and the high C type personality, the high S type personality and the high C type personality is significant difference. In the negative group, the high S type and the high I type personality have larger offset distance and higher disparity rate, indicating that high S type personality and high I type personality are more likely to appear ironic effects. To sum up,negative external guidance in the golf putt performance will appear the ironic effect. The personality traits of the subjects have an effect on the ironic effect of the performance of the putter. The high I type and the high S type individuals are more likely to appear ironic effect, which indicates that the personality factor affects the teaching achievement and the athletic performance to a certain extent.
