Letter may be the greatest creation in the human culture. It is the most direct sign that human went out of the blindness and entered the civilization society. So the letter is taken attention by human since it was created. There were adoration phenomena to different extent on letter in the countries that firstly created letter. With the development of the society, more and more people realized that letter was just a written sign to note language, rather than adore them. But in Chinese history, the gradual formation existed so a long time that the letter has been an adoration position. The character and the reason of a -long- time's existence of the peculiar Chinese culture include the following: society polity, convention, civilization, Chinese characters and so on. It is worth studying and discussing.The adoration on letter of ancient Chinese characters came into being by the realization and attitude on Chinese characters. In ancient Chinese, except that the literate studied on letter through scientific method, a normal realization and attitude on letter exists in the china society, especially in the civilian, and culture phenomenon formed a part of traditional culture as well as a import part of Chinese culture through it. So, in this thesis, we give a peculiar study through culture point of view, which belongs to Chinese culture.The analysis and discussion of this thesis are formed as the following parts:First, summarization.The adoration on letter is a kind of idea and activity, which resulted from the adoration on letter by praying, owing, and asking for a protection. It was closely associated with the adoration idea and jinn view in the earlier society. In China the adoration came into being from Shang dynasty and vanished in Qing dynasty, which almost ran through the whole feudal society.Second, the attitude of the adoration phenomenon of ancient Chinese charactersIn the adoration phenomenon of ancient Chinese characters, people believed that the supernatural sprite created letter and it made the letter mysterious. So, the letter was not only a sign to write, but also possessed the most important sacred respect and supernatural difference. The function of Chinese characters included writing and much supernatural aspect such as forecast, supernatural function, decoration and so on. The recognition is different from the traditional literature.Third, the behaviors of the adoration phenomenon of ancient Chinese charactersThe behavior of the adoration phenomenon in ancient Chinese characters can be seen from the traditional society fork-custom. The respect to ancestor of creating characters, the cherish to letter and paper as well as the other behaviors such as feting on book and pasting words all express the adoration to letter. Literal superstition, for example, word processing, inferring words, invocating and so on, also expresses the behavior of adoration on letter.Fourth, the reasons of formation and prevalence of the adoration phenomenon of ancient Chinese characters.The adoration phenomenon on letter was associated with the primative Tengtu civilization, while the legend of the Cangjie creating words put a mysterious veil on letter. In early society, the high-status witchery controlled the Chinese characters and used it to communicate with super nature or being for a super status, which made the letter possessed character of sanctity. In feudal society, the letter was associated with power and super status, which enhanced the character of sanctity and the adoration on letter. With the development of society the Chinese society was more and more affected by the idea of Confucius, which also was the important reason why the adoration could be passed for a long time. In another aspect, as a sign system to record language, Chinese characters were affected by the language adoration phenomenon because language has a close relation with letter.
