Lu Xun And Zhou Zuoren Personality Psychology And Cultural Comparison

Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren are two of the shining stars in modern Chinese literature. They held firmly the idea of Humanism in the May 4th New Culture Movement and fought together against the Imperialism and Feudalism and became two warriors in the Movement. Lu Xun was mainly devoted in writing with the hope of enlightening the natives and to criticize the ugliness in their nature. Zhou Zuoren published in procession the important argumentatives, such as Literature of Man, Thought revolution, Literature of the Common people and etc. , expounding systematically the importance of literature revolution to a thought revolution and helped literature to develop into the period of construction.But they are quite different as far as their personalities are concerned. Lu Xun was sensitive, gloomy, suspicious,complicated and incisive, while Zhou Zuoren was mild,calm and graceful. Lu Xun chose the piercing and tough style of essay which was called "spear and dagger", while Zhou Zuoren was greatly fond of the mild proses. The love of Lu Xun is deep and he was clear about what to love and what to hate while the love of Zhou Zuoren was pure and sincere. Lu Xun resigned himself to loneliness and never gave in in the face of social oppression;whileas Zhou Zuoren was quite detached to the social affairs and was bent on the carefree life with enjoyment.These also resulted in the differences between their cultural personality.They are also different in their cultural attitudes . Lu Xun took reality as the basis for his writing and depicted the dark , gloomy society with his pen, while Zhou Zuoren was immersed in illusion, for he "made up" life with the picture he created and dared not to face the harsh reality. In their cultural thought, Lu Xun developed to Marxism from humanism which focus on human, Zhou Zuoren slipped from humanism to individualism .Different cultural choice decided that they would have different fate. Lu Xun fmialy becomes national spirit,Zhou Zuoren ended a culture traitor. We can conclude through comparative research that one is enterprising, the other retiring; one begoted, the other mild; one critical, the other detached; one restless, the other calm...
