African American Began migrating from the South to the North after the Civil War and the pattern of racial residential segregation had begun to form in some northern cities by the end of the 19th century. Some cities had enacted residential segregation laws to refuse the black since the beginning of the first great black migration from the South to the North in the early 20th century. When the Great Depression of 1929-1933 occurred, the federal government took part in the field of housing and built plenty of public housing to help the depressed housing companies. What's more, racial residential segregation continued in public housing programs. With the development of Civil Rights Movement in the middle of 50's, African American began to appeal for fair and equal housing and in this background the Fair Housing Act of 1968 was enacted, which is the most important part of residential anti-apartheid policies . With best research on this, we can get better-known America. The thesis is composed of preface ,text, conclusion and appendix.Part one introduces the development of residential apartheid since the early 20th century.Part two explores the decisive factors affecting the residential anti-apartheid policies.Part there introduces the useful effects and problems when policies are implemented.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper and explores the limitation of the federal government in dealing with social problems.?...
