Early Tang Dynasty' s Fubing system ( A military system involving the policy that when civilians were enrolled for military service and as a returned privilege their multiple taxes were being exempted) is an important component of ancient China' s military system. It inherits the hereditary military system in the Qin and Han dynasties and enlightens Song Dynasty on the Mubing system ( a system involving the fact that people were paid for their military service) and plays an important role in the army system. The thesis makes an initial analysis of Tang Dynasty' s Fanyi system ( involving the civilians were enrolled for army service in turns) and a comprehensive summary of the classifications, time, places, content and the unit-arranging system and the counting method of the system in order to probe profoundly into the nature of the system. Furthermore, from the perspective of the Fanyi system, the thesis makes a detailed study of the Fanyi-related Dingbing system ( involving the civilians being enrolled for the army service when necessary) and the related burdens encountering the soldiers, in order to offer some complementary thought, analysis and discussion of the origin, specific content and the abolishment of the Fubing system.
