"bi"( clause of comparison) sentence, as well as "ba" and "bei" sentences, has long been the academic focus of Chinese researchers. This paper is an attempt to explore the following aspects concerning "bi" clause based on the summary of former insightful studies on this field.1. Through the observation of three typical resultant items of noun phrase, adjective phrase and verb phrase in bi sentence, only the words and phrases embodied with continuity and non-quantity can act the role rather than those with discreteness and non-quantity.2. From the perspective of noun valency in the interpretation of " x bi ( than ) y you ( have ) noun", noun can be realized only when the coordination of the two valent items and the bivalent nouns representing emotion and idea. Besides, a series of relative sentence patterns are generalized characterized in the bivalent nouns as the resultant items.3. Further discussion is done on the reasons and features in "bi" sentence when the comparative items, "x" or "y", are those pronouns expressing when, who and how etc.4. Another negative investigation is adopted in the demonstration of "bi" sentences with various resultant items realized in" x" bu bi "y" w and "x" mei bi "y" w patterns and its relative syntactic and semantic features as well as the motivating factors.
