Reviewing the history of the international literature in the 20th century, we notice that Milan Kundera, with his brilliant contributions to the novel creation and the theoretical application, plays an important role in the multiplex disposition of the literature in the 60's and 70's of 20th century. The poetic meditations on "Existence" constitute the definite view of his novel idea. " Existence" is one of the distinctive originalities of his novel theory. What does it mean by "Existence"? According to Kundera, "Existence" is not something that has taken place, but something that is likely to happen. It's a possible place for mankind, in other words, the possibilities of the human being. "Existence" of the human being is Kundera's thematic core in all his novels; appealing to the artistic form, he wants to discover and search for the possibility of human's existence in the world. Kundera's novels tend to look for the possibilities of human being in his existing state, which forms a reel meditation on "Existence". In that case, what's the difference between Kundera's theory and all the others ? By comparison of the acknowledgement of the reality and human being and the relationship of the author and the novel, Kundera's works express an distinctive novel-notion that places the emphasis on the reflections on "Existence", which differentiates his novels from the realist works and the post-modern works. The creations in Kundera's novel forms and the breaches made against the tradition exist all in the gravity of his crucial theme: "Existence". We will analyze Kundera's anti-traditional novel forms like the stylistic double-tone, the unification of metempsychosis, and the metaphors, so that the readers would be able to better understand his personages, his history and his life.
